As I turned 60, I worried about my ability to live the active lifestyle I had always enjoyed. The pain and weakness in my back and legs put an end to skiing, golfing and hiking. Just walking became difficult.
I tried physical therapy, steroids, cortisone shots and a L3-4 fusion with another doctor in 2021. Nothing worked, the pain continued to worsen.
That is when I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Girardi at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). My first question was will I have to settle for living with chronic pain? After listening to me and reviewing my test results, he said he knew what was wrong and could fix it. He was confident that I would be back to all the activities I enjoyed. He was right!
My surgery with Dr. Girardi in October of 2022, a L3-4-5 fusion, was a success. HSS, it’s staff and Dr. Girardi’s team were amazing.
I am back to golfing, skiing and hiking pain free. My family and I will always be grateful to Dr. Girardi and HSS for their expertise, compassion and care.
