Lisa’s Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF) Surgery Patient Story

Dr. Girardi is responsible for giving me back my life. Not once but twice. I have always been an active person but that changed in 2011 before I had my first 3 level spinal fusion. That surgery went very well. But unfortunately, I had another 4 discs that needed to be fused in April of 2022. I had an ALIF and Posterior Fusion T11-Pelvis. A difficult surgery as Dr Girardi had to go through both the front and back. I have had an excellent result and have returned to travel and hiking and enjoying my life pain free.

Before each surgery I had tried medication, injections, and physical therapy. Nothing worked. The pain was indescribable. I have had a total of 7 discs fused. It was Dr Girardi’s expertise that knew the collapsed discs needed to be fused. For that I am forever grateful. The experience and hospital stay were the best possible. Dr Girardi and The Hospital for Special Surgery are the best at what they do.
